First Steps!

From the beginning, it has been our goal to operate Maine Tasting Center as a nonprofit. After getting the business up and running as a benefit corporation and finally opening our Learning Center building in fall 2021, we were ready to start working towards that goal. So, in the months that we've been closed for the winter, we've been working hard behind the scenes to begin the transition to a nonprofit model.

Our first step was to establish Maine Food and Beverage Education Center (MFBEC), a nonprofit organization in the State of Maine that operates as a subsidiary of Maine Tasting Center. As of April 2022, MFBEC oversees and executes the educational mission of Maine Tasting Center through classes, public events and other immersive experiences centered around Maine's food and drink producers. In May 2022, we will welcome our first MFBEC staff member, increasing our capacity and and expanding our scope. And that's where we are now!

Please subscribe to our mailing list and check back often for updates; we're hard at work and expect to have plenty of exciting news to share with you regularly.
